Deputy Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. His clinical, basic, and translational research focuses on the natural history, risk stratification, and dynamic prediction of HBV-related acute-on-chronic liver failure and decompensated cirrhosis, together with systemic inflammation, immune dysregulation, and infection in end-stage liver disease.Recent work also examines metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), focusing on longitudinal weight change, liver stiffness, and associations between antidiabetic drug use and liver-related outcomes in people with type 2 diabetes and MASLD.

Principal investigator of three National Natural Science Foundation of China grants. Participated in two National Key R&D Program / National Science and Technology Major Project studies as a task leader, and in three further studies under these national programs as a core researcher. Published as first or corresponding author in journals including BMJ, Hepatology, Gut, and Journal of Hepatology.
